Text[edit | edit source]
This soaring pinnacle of urban grace;
the heart of this vast land of William Penn;
this skyline marked by One Liberty Place
and Comcast Center: lofty works of men.
This city scarred by Wissahickon Creek;
a River straddled by Walt Whitman's Bridge;
neighborhoods at once glorious and bleak,
and stars like Akers, Gagné, Brand, and Lidge.
This cultural mosaic made of all
who hear the Liberty Bell's silenced rings
upon the steps of Independence Hall,
that well from which this Great Republic springs.
This home of black and white, of rich and poor;
between us, let brotherly love endure.
