I guard myself against this greatest crime:
oppression of my sovereign intellect,
the subjugation of a mind sublime
in functionality: the brain's effect,
a natural machine of conscious thought,
a mechanism strikingly unplanned;
a complex instrument that must be taught
to think; to search; to learn and understand;
to satiate a curiosity
that never can be fully satisfied;
to rage against religiosity
for all the lies, and all the truths denied;
to stand against archaic lunacy
and stem the tide of mental tyranny.
