The name is based on a Captain America cosplay, specifically the fugitive version of the character as he appeared in Avengers: Infinity War, combined with the title of Edward Everett Hale's 1863 short story "The Man Without a Country."

The account reached 10,000 Followers on Friday, June 25th of 2021, becoming eligible to enroll in the TikTok Creator Fund, and reached 100,000 Followers at 5:12PM on Tuesday, September 7th; the account later reached 200,000 Followers at 2:09PM on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, a milestone that was commemorated with the account's first livestream.
